Coffee Caramel Milkshake

Coffee Caramel Milkshake

For us, there’s not much better than a Coffee Milkshake on a hot summer day. One problem though: if you want to sweeten your coffee you only have a few options. Option one is to use sugar, which is hard to dissolve and can result in a pile of sugar gunk at the bottom of your glass. Option two is using a store-bought coffee syrup, but those tend to be cloyingly sweet and flavored with junk. The hidden third option is to make your own syrup at home. So we create a simple caramel syrup recipe, that isn’t that hard and will give your Javy coffee cold brew, milkshakes, or smoothies a beautifully rich flavor.

Ingredients

To make the coffee caramel syrup:

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3/4 cup hot Water, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup hot Water, divided
  • 1/4 tsp Javy Caramel Coffee Concentrate

To make the Caramel Milkshake:

  • 1 1/2 scoop Ice Cream of choice
  • 1/2 cup Milk of choice
  • 1-2 tsp Javy Caramel Coffee Concentrate
  • 1 tbsp Caramel Coffee Syrup

Directions

  1. Mix 1/4 cup water and all sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat til sugar is dissolved. Don’t let it boil until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Once the sugar has dissolved completely, Turn the heat to high and cover, and let boil for two minutes. Uncover and stir gently while it continues to boil until it turns a nice deep amber color. Remove from heat.
  3. Add the rest of the water and then when the bubbles settle a bit the vanilla, Javy Caramel Coffee Concentrate, and salt and stir gently to mix. When you do this step, stand back to avoid scalding yourself as the mixture will begin to bubble rapidly.
  4. Let the syrup cool and it will keep in the fridge for up to six months.
  5. In a high-speed blender, mix all ingredients and blend until completely combined. Transfer into a glass and drizzle some extra Caramel Syrup for extra sweetness, if desired.
